PSA Flyer

This design was for a Public Service Announcement about Campus Drinking. My design fits the mold of a PSA because it clearly states and defines the issue on campus, to create awareness which is binge drinking on college campuses. My ad contains effective content about the topic that raises awareness of the issue, as well as stimulates action with the information about Counseling and Substance Abuse Services and their available hours. My statement "no good story starts with, 'that one time when I got my stomach pumped...'" provokes an attitude about drinking that it is a serious topic.

For a visually appealing and captivating contrast I used a white and red text against a black background to insist urgency about the issue at hand. Next, I designed the photo so that everything was black and white except for the drink which is in color as well as framed and darker. As for repetition, I used two fonts, one font for the ad part of the PSA and then another for the "call to action" and the information about services and what the students can do to help themselves or a friend. My photo and title and question are center aligned and all the other information is aligned to the left for repetition. I also placed relevant information near each other such as the CASAS hours and information to the left and right side of the photo. I put the logo of the College of Charleston next to "what can you do?" so that my target audience was clear to the reader of the PSA. Overall, I feel the urgency, information, and readability flow well with my creative design in getting the message across about what binge drinking is, how it is prevalent and what steps to eliminate it across campus are.
